was closed in 1936 due to The Great Depression but was ultimately
chartered in 1954 and re-opened in 1955.

(1998-2007) and two state titles (2004, 2005)

Prior to Coach Alston's tenure, Jake
Rudolph coached MUS for 39 years (1959-1997), leading the Owls to a
295-114-4 record and one state championship (1985). Rudolph passed
away July 6, 2008, at the age of 78.

Although the school's official nickname
is the Owls, MUS athletic teams are occasionally referred to as the
"Buzzards".

MUS's record books contain the name
"McCarroll" prominently. Mac (Class of 1983) is fifth all-time
in career tackles, and brother Andy (Class of 1986) is in the top 3
of many rushing and scoring records. Both went on to
exceptional careers at Vanderbilt. Brother Patrick is
currently an assistant coach on the varsity football team.
